| The Decanter World Wine Awards is the newest of the premier international tasting events and has quickly earned a reputation for impartiality and excellence. Every year, a prestigious tasting panel of accomplished judges expertly tastes around 5,500 wines and select only the very best wines amongst them to receive a Decanter medal or the coveted Decanter Regional Trophy.

| The International Wine Challenge receives thousands of entries every year, and judges from across the globe make their way to London to choose the winners. More than 9,000 bottles of wine are tasted blind (in unmarked bottles), covering every type of grape, winemaking style and country making this huge competition – and its resulting medals and awards –the largest annual tasting of its kind in the World.
- Six Gold Medals – Vesuvio 1990, 1996, 1997, 2000, 2001, 2003
- Peter Symington, responsible with his son Charles, for the vineyards and wine making, has been made ‘Fortified Wine Maker of the Year’ an extraordinary 6 times by the ‘Wine Challenge’. Nobody else has won this important award more than once. In 2003, his son Charles won the same award. |
| The International Wine and Spirit Competition was founded in 1969 and is the premier competition of its kind in the world. Its aim is to promote the quality and excellence of the world’s best wines, spirits and liqueurs. This standard is achieved through a rigorous two-stage judging process of professional blind tasting and detailed technical (chemical and microbiological) analysis. Every year the Competition receives approximately 5,000 entries from over 50 countries.
